Birth of the Blues

Here's an amazing little Rat Pack video that includes Johnny Carson, for some reason, singing next to Frank. They must be on Carson's show. Things are running a little high even for this crowd -- just watch Dean dance -- but they still have impeccable timing. Sammy in particular:

This is my first YouTube video, ever.

I could watch that ten times in a row. "How's it feel to sit in the back of the bus?"

I think Carson was filling in for Joey Bishop (it might have been Peter Lawrence, but I doubt it). I know I've heard the story and I have it somewhere on DVD, but I think that's in Tahoe.

"This is my first YouTube video ever"

It's all downhill from here...

I know; I have a bunch of silly Dean Martin videos I want to post.

Tahoe would make sense. It somehow doesn't look like a TV audience. The gag at the end -- "Let's give Dean a chance" -- cracks me up every time.

Why hadn't I realised till now that Frank Sinatra IS the sexiest man alive? Well, OK, dead. What a total dish. And what a brilliant video. Proof that life is good. They don't make 'em like they used to.

Mike, yes, B. is right. It's all downhill from here. Youtube is utterly addictive and you'll soon be able to ignore the rest of the internet altogether.

(PS. When's the change happening? I want to keep my finger on the pulse.)

The change is happening in the next couple of days. I can't be more specific. You're expected to be taken by surprise.

I have *known* about YouTube, and I've even linked to clips here and there; it just never occurred to me to post one on the blog. But, you know, that's how it is here at Radio Free Mike. We're resistant to new technology. Fortschritt ist Rückschritt, etc.

Not "Vorsprung durch Technik", then?
