A Year of Living Dangerously



If you want to help out the rescue efforts in Yogyakarta, the Asia Foundation is a reputable charity along with the Red Cross and Oxfam. I know a few people in Jogja. I haven't heard from them, but that could mean they're just not reading their e-mail.

I know fresh air is good for recovery, but that has to be the least-sterile looking hospital I've ever seen.
 
Indonesian hospitals aren't the cleanest in the world...
 
Have you seen the recent crisis caused in the Philipines due to the USA luring away all their competent nurses? Japan is doing the same as the USA, but the nurses in America get paid more than in Japan.
