Nice piece. Especially nice that you recognized that the unemployment mess was Kohl's doing (and let's not forget the one-to-one currency conversion). It was shocking enough having a human politician in a position of power, and it's sad to see him gone.
Well Fischer just happens to be one of the politicians that I think could pretty much top charts for incompetence, failure, dishonesty, arrogance, lack of responsibilty... etc. How he can be defined as a success is beyond me and you sadly dont define the criteria for this at all in the article. As to why the USA would need such a guy is beyond me, as is how Ed defines "human politicians"?
The strangest bit is this: "and for the first time there were people in charge of the Federal Republic of Germany with no connection to World War II." Surely any analysis of Fischer has to be defined in context of the 68 movement? This has everything to do with the 2nd World War and the Cold War and involves much more than just being anti-Vietnam. Sadly no such criticism exists in the piece.
Wow I do believe just reading on the TV news screen thing in the U Bahn that the Iraqi Constitution has been voted in by a pretty f-ing good majority. Well what do you know? Well done Herr Fischer..... oh no that wasnt him was it...
" Now now ..."
Spielverderber! So I suppose that itd be unfair to mention the Volcker report as well or Iran's recent political outbursts...
Well, I think the Iranian regime should be wiped off the map. But we all know you're ignoring a few things just to take a whack at Fischer...
"But we all know you're ignoring a few things just to take a whack at Fischer..."
Wait up there... who wrote the article in the first place here? I could just as easily say: "But we all know you're ignoring a few things just to paint a good picture of Fischer..." But Id never use the "we" form... sadly I am in the minority and that shit bag Fischer is still a popular man.
But "we" includes you ... you were joking. Unless you seriously think Fischer was objectively pro-fascist for not wanting to send German troops to Iraq. Which I think is one thing you loathe about him, apart from his radical Marxist past (since renounced).
