Frankzappastrasse!

Some musicians in the deep-eastern Berlin neighborhood of Marzahn -- with all the famous Plattenbau -- want to name one of their local streets after Frank Zappa. Right now it's called "Street 13." Back before the Iron Curtain fell, Frank Zappa and the Velvet Underground were such huge influences on eastern counterculture that Vaclav Havel eventually invited them both to Prague.

That is very cool, just a shame about the location. A lot of the residents there may either hate anyone who helped bring the wall down or just hate any Americans in general especially those involved in alternative music. But who knows? Perhaps a load of people will flock there for the cool address.

I would suggest taking a street in Friedrichshain with a crap name and giving the crap name to Marzahn and letting Frank rest there... only we should find out if he liked dogs first.

Sad as it is, I did think of finding a flat in Mitte because of the name of the street. My friends would never believe me if i told them i lived in "Max Beer Str, Berlin, Germany"! Sadly it wasnt to be, though i think i live near him. Will have to find out if its him or not.
